Translating a Zoom, Meet or Teams call?
This page listens to your microphone. For a call, SonicMeet listens to the call itself and puts captions in your language right on it: in the Chrome or Edge tab, or with the Windows and Mac app. Google sign-in, 20 minutes free, one time.
SonicMeet runs on desktop — open this page on your computer to install.

- 1
Choose the language you read
It starts on English. The spoken language is detected for you (Auto Detect), or you can pick it yourself.
- 2
Press the microphone
Allow microphone access when the browser asks. Speak, or hold your phone or laptop near whoever is speaking.
- 3
Read it as it’s said
The translation arrives a phrase at a time, about a second behind the speaker, with the original in smaller type underneath.
What it does, and what it doesn’t
Worth knowing before you rely on it in a conversation.
It does
- Show the translation as text, a phrase at a time, about a second behind the speaker.
- Keep the original under every line, so you can check a name or a number.
- Work out which of 60+ languages is being spoken, or use the one you pick.
- Run in the browser on a phone or a computer, with nothing to install for this page.
It doesn’t
- Speak the translation out loud. Google Meet, Zoom and Teams can, on some paid plans.
- Translate both sides at once. It goes one direction at a time; switch when the other person answers.
- Put captions on anyone else’s screen. Each person turns it on for themselves.
- Keep a recording. Audio is processed live by SonicMeet and our speech provider, and we don’t keep a recording.
Live voice translator FAQ
Is the live voice translator free?
Yes for 2 minutes on this page, no sign-up. SonicMeet itself needs a Google sign-in: new accounts get 20 minutes free, one time, and paid plans start at $10 a month.
Do I have to choose the spoken language?
No. Leave it on Auto Detect and it works out which language is being spoken. If you already know the language, you can pick it instead.
Which languages can it translate?
60+ languages, from any of them into any other: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Russian, Turkish, Vietnamese, Hindi and many more. The language list on this page shows them all.
Does it speak the translation out loud?
No. It shows the translation as text, with the original in smaller type under each line, and nothing is played aloud. Google Meet, Zoom and Teams can speak translations on some paid plans.
Can it translate a Zoom, Meet or Teams call?
Not from this page: it only hears your microphone. The SonicMeet extension translates the call’s own audio and shows captions on top of Google Meet, Zoom or Teams in Chrome or Edge. The Windows and Mac app does the same for any call app.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, in your phone’s browser, with nothing to install. Press the microphone and it goes full screen, so you can hold the phone up in a conversation. The meeting extension is for Chrome or Edge on a computer.
Is my audio recorded?
No. Audio is sent to SonicMeet and our speech provider to be processed live, and we don’t keep an audio recording.
